Mid-Year Wellness Check-In: Revisit, Refocus, Recommit
Here we are in July—the halfway point of the year. Can you believe it?
Whether you set resolutions back in January, chose a word for the year, or just told yourself, “This is the year I take better care of myself,” now is the perfect time to pause, reflect, and check in with yourself.
This isn’t about judgment or guilt. It’s about seeing what’s actually working in your life—and what isn’t—and making small, meaningful shifts as you move through the second half of the year.
Step 1: Revisit – What Did You Set Out to Do?
Let’s start by gently revisiting your intentions or goals from earlier in the year.
Did you set a specific goal, like exercising three times a week or cooking more meals at home?
Did you choose a theme or focus, like “consistency,” “rest,” or “self-care”?
Did you have no formal goals but hoped just to feel better overall?
Take a few moments to jot down what you can remember. If your goals have evolved or changed, that’s okay. This process is about acknowledging your starting point and how things have unfolded so far.
Ask yourself:
What have I accomplished or made progress on?
What didn’t go as planned—and why?
Are those goals still relevant to where I am today?
Step 2: Refocus – What Matters Most Right Now?
Life happens. Perhaps an unexpected life event or schedule change made it difficult to stick to your original plan. Or maybe your priorities shifted. That doesn’t mean your goals failed—it means they’re ready for a reset.
This is your invitation to refocus. Choose what feels most important for the next few months, not what you think you should be doing.
Ask yourself:
What area of my wellness feels most neglected right now—nutrition, movement, sleep, stress, connection?
What do I want to feel more of: energy, calm, strength, clarity, ease?
What’s realistic for this season of life?
You don’t have to do everything. Choose one or two small areas to focus on and build from there.
Step 3: Recommit – Set Intentions That Fit Your Life
Now that you’ve revisited and refocused, it’s time to recommit—but in a way that honors your life as it is now.
Instead of aiming for perfection or starting over from scratch, ask: What’s one small thing I can do this week that supports my wellness?
Ideas to consider:
Add one more veggie to your plate each day
Set a 9:30 p.m. “lights off” goal for better sleep
Take a 10-minute walk after lunch
Block off 30 minutes on Sunday to plan simple meals
Say “no” to one thing that drains your energy
A Gentle Reminder About Progress
Progress doesn’t always look like a perfect checklist. Some months are about forward movement. Others are about staying afloat. Give yourself permission to shift and adapt.
If all you did for the first half of the year was survive some tough days, that still counts. You don’t have to wait for January to begin again. Your wellness is always a work in progress—and that’s a good thing.
A Journal Prompt to Close
“What’s one small change I can make in the next week that supports my health, feels doable, and brings me closer to how I want to feel?”
Write it down, say it out loud, or save it in your phone. Let that intention guide you as you move forward—realistically and with kindness.
